dozo vs Apron for paying supplier invoices by card
Choose dozo if your card is not Visa or Mastercard, or you want one fee for any UK credit and debit card. Choose Apron if you pay with Visa or Mastercard, want the supplier paid the next working day, or want no monthly plan for a few invoices.
Published . Updated .
dozo and Apron do the same main job. You pay a supplier’s invoice by card, and the service pays the supplier for you. The supplier does not need to take cards. The difference is which cards each one takes, and how fast the supplier gets paid. dozo takes any UK credit and debit card.
Which should I choose?
- Choose dozo if your card is not Visa or Mastercard, or if you want the same fee on any UK credit and debit card, business or personal.
- Choose Apron if you pay with Visa or Mastercard and need the supplier paid the next working day.
- Choose Apron if you pay only a few invoices a month and want no monthly plan, or want your bills synced with Xero or QuickBooks.
Switching is probably not worth it if Apron already accepts your card and your supplier is paid on time.

| Month | dozo | Apron |
|---|---|---|
| £3,000, as 3 invoices | £29 plan + £75 fee = £104 | Go plan + £75 fee = £75 |

Where Apron is better
- Speed. Apron pays the supplier the next working day. With dozo, the earliest date is 5 days after today.
- Cost for a few invoices. Apron’s Go plan is free. dozo has no free plan.
- Accounting sync. Apron syncs bills with Xero and QuickBooks. dozo does not connect to accounting software.
Switching from Apron to dozo
- Sign up and choose a plan. £29 a month covers up to £10,000 of payments a month, and £79 covers up to £150,000.
- Pass the identity check. You upload a passport, driving licence or national ID card, and a proof of address. A person on the dozo team reviews them.
- Add each supplier. You enter the details yourself. dozo does not import them from Apron or from your accounting software. A close match or no match on the name check stops the payment. If the check cannot run, you can accept that and continue.
- Make one small test payment first, with a payment-out date before the invoice is due.
You can keep Apron for the payments it handles well, and use dozo for the card that Apron does not take.
